HomePlace Farms is comprised of a 27 acre meadow, and a 6 acre pond for maximum wildlife attraction and appropriate crop production. We intentionally manage the health of our deer herd, our turkey habitat, with plans to develop waterfowl hunting, and upland game bird hunting.
We pioneered therapeutic hunting, which assists our veterans in coping with their PTSD.
The development and enhancement of these habitats will involve thinning the existing forest, controlled burning of both the forest and the meadow, and planting grasses as well as fruit trees/crops in accordance with our property management plan.
We have planted a pear orchard consisting of 7 varieties of pears that will yield pears from August - December. These 53 pear trees will act as a wildlife attractant and provide harvestable fruit for the farm and veterans. Future plantings include pollinator seeds whose natural grasses and flowers will also serve as a habitat for quail. We will also be planting a Monarch Butterfly seed mix to designate the property as a Monarch Butterfly migration site.
